SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Carol Cohen has been working in the field of social work since 1975. From 1981-1992, she has been involved in the development of mental health services for the deaf; partial day treatment program, group residence, mental health services, crisis intervention as well the development of various community support services. Since 1992, she has been an educator at Gallaudet University. She has published several articles focusing on psychotherapy with deaf and hard of hearing consumers. In 2007, she edited a book on social work education and disability. Primary focus of her career is the enhancement and development of culturally syntonic mental health services for deaf and hard of hearing populations. Since 2004, she has developed supportive services for caregivers who live in Howard County, Maryland.
